I finished my old world study. There are still things I would like to do to it, but I feel like it could go on forever, so for now I am moving on. I'm not going to post the final renders here, as this is more for works in progress, but I will post a few more assets for everyone to have a look at. Those of you that know me, can take a look at the finals on my portfolio site. Some of these are new, and some are tweaked old assets.
The new version of my couch. Now using a flatmap. It looks a bit plasticy dynamically lit. It looks better baked, the seam on the arm looks more like a real leather seam.

My rhino, now with ivory horn. I may build some stands for these guys and may a slightly better material, and do some prop renders.
Thanks for looking.

awesome dude, thanks for posting, can't wait to see the finals :-)
ReplyDeletethese look great,
ReplyDeleteThe top lamps light bulb is off, hehe. im assuming that it will be on in the scene with a shader.
The second lamp is a nice model, but the textures/shaders feel a bit flat. the glass and body feel like theyre the same type of material.
The couch feels a bit flat to me. the buttons dont feel like theyre pushing the leather in. those usually look very stressed and bubbly. maybe a higher spec and some more contrast would help. I also find the geo is a bit simple for it. it would up the poly count quite a bit, but u might consider slightly modelling out the leather bumps on the top. it would break the straight line and give it a nicer silhouette.
The break in the middle is a bit odd too, splits the couch in half and turns into a bit of a focal point. These are all crits for just the couch on its own. theyre not as noticeable in the scene.
The rhino looks like u should F with him, hes awesome.
Great work man, thanks for posting!
